EPIC: “Surpassing the usual or ordinary, particularly in scope or size”

No better word could describe the youth ministry here at YWAM Brisbane than EPIC. Running every Saturday from 2-5:30pm, EPIC exists as a creative outlet for the young people of our local community. EPIC provides a place “where youth can be youth” and have a good time with purpose. During EPIC, young people participate in group games—water fights, tug of war and other crazy competitions—and then split up into activity groups according to their interests. Teens can hone their skills in skateboarding, music, acting, art or dance alongside young adults who can provide further training in a fun environment.

In addition to running EPIC, YWAM Brisbane also reaches out to youth at neighboring Michelton High School. We facilitate weekly “Brekky Club” and “Seniors Lounge” programs where students can enjoy food and fun in a relaxed atmosphere while building relationships with our staff. Periodically, members of our staff also teach Religious Education (RE) classes in both local primary and secondary schools, as well as run promotions for YWAM and the DTS.

As a base, we also serve as a resource in facilitating youth events and activities for local churches. In the past, we have facilitated “Call to Missions” nights, team building activities and even mini Discipleship Training Schools for other youth ministries.
