BEACH TO BUSH MINISTRIES
Beach to Bush ministers to the remote rural communities of South East Queensland and to the tourists on the coast.
In rural communities we aspire to bless the pastors and church leadership in these towns with intercession and worship, children’s programs, preaching in churches as well as practical things such as painting and mowing lawns. Another aim we have is training and mobilising youth to be competent and confident in sharing their faith with others. To accomplish this we teach them practical skills, such as how to share their faith, and work with the youth to discover how they can impact their school and the youth of their community.
The tropical paradise of coastal Queensland attracts approximately one million tourists every year from around the world. Beach to Bush travel to a number of coastal communities to minister to these travellers. This is often done through lifestyle and friendship evangelism. We stay at backpackers and campsites in order to build relationship with others. Many people who are travelling are searching for more from life, both in the natural and the spiritual, and are eager to talk and discuss issues of life.
Although we’re open to ministry in any town, those that we have worked in consistently include: Roma, Toowoomba, Byron Bay, Airlie Beach, Emerald, Stanthorpe, Hervey Bay, Redcliffe and Chinchilla.
The Beach to Bush ministries link many of our ministries together including DTS teams, Go Teams and Evangelism teams. Our Beach to Bush DTS is our main tool and vehicle for this ministry. However, the MAD DTS also spend time in some areas as they tour in schools and churches.
Some of the tools that we use to minister include:
- The Chai Tent - A big marque which is set up cafe style. In it we host bands, poets, and art galleries.
- A Radio Show - Creating quality programming for rural and coastal radio stations.
- High School Programs – Teaching in Religious Education classes on topics such as leadership, self-esteem, future, relationships, learning styles...
- Impact Evangelism Events – Impact Summer, Impact Schoolies.
- Community Transformation Team – Partnering with specific communities to see goals achieved.
