BASIC LEADERSHIP SCHOOL The vision of the Basic Leadership School (BLS) is to produce Christ like leaders in every sphere of society that influence individuals into the Kingdom of God. We believe leaders in the Kingdom of God are people who worship God alone with their lives. Through their love of God and uncompromising nature, they serve the world into the Kingdom of God. We believe leadership is influencing through relationship and that it is not limited to a position, but it is who we are and is imparted with an anointing through the calling of God. We believe each leader’s life is a unique message from God to the world, formed throughout their lifetime by their relationships, experiences, and the Scriptures. Our goal for this school is to train and release leaders who have identified their message and live it out by communication and serving. The BLS consists of 3 Phases, each about 6-7 months in length. We have 3 term intake dates - January, June, August. The end date will depend on the Ministry field which you will be a part of. Starting dates are as follows: 5 January 2010 - August 2011 28 June 2010 - January 2012 August 2010 - April 2012 A BLS participant may choose 1 of 2 Learning Pathways for the BLS: OPTION ONE - SCHOOL STAFF POSITION: You may choose to staff a YWAM Brisbane school during your BLS internship. This must be a school that you’ve already successfully completed. In this case, Phase 1 would include staffing the Course and co-leading an outreach team, Phase 2 would include involvement in another department or ministry. Phase 3 would involve staffing the same course a second time, and leading the outreach. OPTION TWO - MINISTRY INTERNSHIP: In this option, you may choose to be a part of a YWAM Brisbane ministry or department such as MAD Ministries, Go Teams, Beach to Bush Ministries, Hospitality ministries, etc. Typically, you would maintain a commitment to this ministry for the entire 18 months. However, you would also involve about one-third of your time serving in another area of the Base as well in a different ministry or department. This allows a greater understanding of ministry opportunities and the workings of a Ministry Centre. The BLS has three components to its development; knowledge, skills, and character. You can expect to grow in: Integrity, Servant Heartedness, Responsibility, Humility, Perseverance, Compassion, Commitment and Relationships, etc. You can expect to learn how to: Lead small groups, disciple and train others, plan and carry out short term projects, effectively communicate, have a Kingdom worldview, walk by faith, preach the gospel, resolve conflicts, manage your time and resources, and use your giftings, etc. The Basic Leadership School is accredited within Australia as a Diploma in Christian Missions Leadership (52158) with the Institute for the Nations, Australia.
